ACDS offers a range of specialized training courses designed to support professionals working in the Community Disability Services (CDS) sector. Advanced Positive Behaviour Support: Designed for professionals involved in planning and overseeing behaviour support plans, this course builds on practical aspects of developing effective behaviour plans. Learners will gain a deeper understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) theories and approaches.
 

Facilitating Meaningful Change with Outcomes: A train-the-trainer course designed to equip learners with tools to facilitate outcomes-focused planning and decision-making within their organizations. Learners will explore practical strategies for achieving goals, setting SMART objectives, and using data to measure progress.
 

Foundations in Community Disability Studies: A benchmark course for direct service workers in the CDS sector, providing essential training for all entry-level CDS professionals. Learners will receive a Certificate of Completion after successfully finishing the course.
 

From Community Presence to Community Inclusion: This course supports CDS professionals in promoting inclusive community lives for individuals with developmental disabilities. Introduction to Energy Efficiency: This course offers an introduction to energy efficiency concepts and practices, covering topics such as climate change, carbon footprints, and sustainable development goals. Learners will explore how energy efficiency can be applied both personally and professionally.
 

Introduction to Positive Behaviour Support: This foundational course introduces staff to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) planning. Learners will develop a clear understanding of the PBS process, from assessing behaviours of concern to implementing strategies for addressing them.
 

Outcomes Training: This course introduces learners to the concept of outcomes—creating measurable steps to achieve individual and organizational goals. CDS workers will gain an understanding of how their roles contribute to the success of support plans, with a focus on quality of life domains and Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
 

Quality Supports, Safe Staff: This course equips CDS workers with the knowledge and tools to create a safe and healthy workplace environment. Participants will learn how to develop and implement safety strategies that engage all levels of the organization.
 

Trauma-Informed Abuse Investigation: This specialized course teaches investigative interviewing techniques, focusing on abuse allegations involving individuals with disabilities. Learners will practice open-ended questioning, develop interviewing protocols, and apply best practices to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable witnesses.
