Introduction to Complex Support Needs and Secure Treatment

Individuals who have developmental disabilities coexisting with extreme complex mental health, medical, and/or behavioural needs often experience chaotic service histories. These individuals meet the criteria for the Complex Needs Designation. The Introduction to Secure Treatment online course has been developed to provide service providers a support resource, as they pursue to best serve individuals with such diverse needs.

The training comprises of 8 modules, with assessments and with a final test at the end. Modules include:

  1. Introduction to community secure treatment
  2. Secure Treatment Support Feature Models
  3. Seclusion and technology protocols: Considerations and guidelines
  4. Secure Treatment Identifying Factors
  5. Client Data Analysis
  6. CET Standards: Secure Treatment Indicators
  7. Operational Consideration
  8. Considerations for potential secure treatment providers.

Learner(s) will receive a Certificate of Completion electronically after completing all requirements. The online training has been developed in collaboration with Calgary Scope Society, an ACDS member organization. This course complies with the Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation Standards set out by ACDS.

 

Self-paced online training: This option allows learners to complete their training at their own pace.

Fees:

ACDS Member Organization: $225 + GST per learner 

Non-Member Organization:  $292.50+ GST per learner
