Instructor-led Foundations in Community Disability Studies Tutor Training (Train-the-Trainer) will be offered by the Alberta Council of Disability Services on March 21st, 22nd & April 5th, 2024 virtually via Zoom.
The minimum preferred learner qualifications are:
An undergraduate degree or diploma in Community Rehabilitation and Disabilities Studies OR Rehabilitation Practitioner Diploma OR Human Services diploma with a minimum of a year experience in the field.
OR:
Considerable working experience in the sector and/or knowledge of the ACDS Foundations Course format.
Day 1 ( March 21): Introduction to ACDS Foundations in Community Disability Services and Adult Learning Principles
Day 2 (March 22): How to teach Foundations in Community Disability Studies Course
Day 3 (April 5): Presentations on Foundations Unit
Instructor-led training: This training is conducted via Zoom and are facilitated by an instructor. The training department creates a Zoom class link, which is shared with both the instructor and learners prior to the training date.
Trainer: Corinne Thomas
Corinne has worked in a variety of different roles in her 25 years in the disability sector. She currently works as a Pastor in a large church in Calgary supporting and advocating for families and individuals impacted by disability. She is a lifelong learner and holds a Bachelor in Human Services, a diploma in Disability Studies, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management. She also is a guardian for a vulnerable adult and a funds administrator and supported decision-maker for another vulnerable adult within the disability community.
Fees
ACDS Members: $300 + GST per learner
Non-members: $390 + GST per learner
