The Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) is offering in-person, facilitator-led Surveyor Training for individuals preparing to conduct CET Accreditation surveys under the current Creating Excellence Together (CET) Standards.
This interactive session is designed to build consistency, confidence, and understanding of surveyor responsibilities through real-world examples, group discussion, and mock survey simulations. Participants will explore CET survey methodology, evidence collection, ethics, and effective reporting techniques.
Step 1: Online Standards Training (Required for new surveyors)
Format: Self-directed via ACDS Moodle platform
Access: Provided upon receipt of completed registration form
Requirement: Must be completed before the in-person training session
Assessment: Includes a proficiency assessment
Note: Individuals who have already completed this course are not required to retake it.
Step 2: In-Person Training (Calgary Office)
Day 1 (September 17): CET Overview & Foundational Survey Skills
Deep dive into Standards 1–7
Surveyor responsibilities and ethics
Evidence collection: conversations, observations, and file reviews
Day 2 (September 18): Survey Application & Simulation
Stakeholder engagement and preparation
Mock survey simulation, group debrief, and reporting guidance
Team Leader Final Reporting Session (Optional for Surveyors / Required for Team Leaders)
Date: September 18
Time: 1 PM – 5 PM
This focused session will cover post-survey documentation, systemic findings, and leadership responsibilities.
Participants must bring a working laptop
Light breakfast and lunch provided on both days
Out-of-town participants may submit gas receipts for reimbursement
Disclaimer: All attendees commit to completing a minimum of two surveys following the training
If you are not currently an approved ACDS surveyor or team leader, you must complete the Team Member/Team Leader Application and submit it with three references to accred@acds.ca prior to the course:
$50 + GST per learner
This fee is non-refundable but is transferable to another learner up to 72 hours in advance.
Cancellations after September 10 are subject to a $15 administration fee
No refunds for no-shows or cancellations made less than 24 hours before the session
