Instructor-led Virtual Career Development/Employment Inclusion Training

July 8, 2024 to July 12, 2024

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Hosted virtually via Zoom on July 8th, from 9:00am to 2:00pm; July 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th, 2024 from 9:00am to 1:00pm (MDT)

This training provides participants with an up-to-date foundation of awareness, knowledge, strategies, and techniques to facilitate the employment inclusion of people with disabilities. Participants will also improve their capacity to engage and coach employers for improved outcomes in the engagement and retention of workers with disabilities.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of disability in the context of society, work, and equity.
  • Increased understanding of disability, ableism, and employment advocacy.
  • Effective strategies to serve job seekers with disabilities through career development.
  • Employer engagement – including support strategies and accommodation design.
  • Develop the capacity to educate employers and present a business case for inclusion.

Training Schedule:

  • Day 1 - Monday, July 8th, 9:00am-2:00pm
  • Day 2 - Tuesday, July 9th, 9:00am-1:00pm
  • Day 3 - Wednesday, July 10th, 9:00am-1:00pm
  • Day 4 - Thursday, July 11th, 9:00am-1:00pm
  • Day 5 - Friday, July 12th, 9:00am-1:00pm

Total instructional hours: 21 hours. Pre- session reading materials will be provided.

On successful completion of the training, participants will receive Certification of Completion.

Trainer: Sean McEwen, RealEyes Capacity Consultants

Over the past 26 years, Sean has been designing and overseeing Employment Inclusion services for groups under-represented in employment, while providing leadership and coaching to teams of Career Practitioners serving jobseekers and employers. Sean has developed and facilitated training for employers and employment service providers across Canada and has helped develop regional, provincial, and national networks dedicated to the Employment Inclusion of under-represented groups. He is the 2018 recipient of the ‘Award of Excellence in Employment’ granted by the Alberta Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

Fees:

ACDS Members: $495 +GST per learner

Non-members: $595 +GST per learner
