Facilitating Meaningful Change with Outcomes (Edmonton)

March 19, 2020

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Info

This course is designed to provide a language and a set of tools for learners to facilitate the prioritization of outcomes, data-driven decision making, and assessment within their organization. Non-profit organizations face increasing accountability to “show their impact” to governments, donors, and stakeholders. To respond to higher standards, the vision for this course is for service providers to have an in-house trainer with the know-how to complete data collection, as related to service provision and the Creating Excellence Together accreditation standards.

Learners will build on the content of the core Outcomes Training course by learning basic facilitation skills and adult learning theory. Learners will be able to support staff in working with outcomes. Note that this course does not require the core Outcomes Training to have been completed prior. The audience for this training is team, department, or organizational leaders looking to apply outcomes practically.

This course references Creating Excellence Together Standards to make content relevant to the work of community disability services. These standards receive specific attention because they set the expectations for decision-making and evaluating outcomes for service providers. As well, this program includes individual reflection and group discussion.

The course concludes with a case study related to facilitating outcomes within an organization. Learners must earn a score of satisfactory to earn a certificate of completion (rubric will be provided).

By completing this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the educational value of balancing challenge and support;
  2. Apply basic principles in adult learning theory and facilitation skills as related to work with Outcomes;
  3. Facilitate a conversation that clarifies the whyhow, and what of personal and organizational efforts;
  4. Facilitate the creation of SMART Goals as related to one’s well-being;
  5. Create a logic model for the achievement of goals;
  6. Relate measurement, assessment, evaluation, and goal-tracking to an Individual Service Plan
